Most hotels have some shopping, if only a convenience store. La Samanna has several high end stores.
La Samanna has considerable watersports facilities and looks after its hotel guests on their section of Bay Long. Danny and the boys provide chairs, umbrellas, drinks, and BBQ on the northern end of Cupecoy Beach, but generally this is a laid back section of the island with no jet skis, parasailing, etc.
This could all change because of the construction, but there are no timeshares planned, parking is limited, and the beach is variable. The first major lodging unit to open, Rainbow Beach, is open and they are now selling timeshares, but nothing commercial has appeared. The Cliff has opened and is quite lovely, although quite high. It does have a high-priced restaurant and the gated entrance keeps out the timid. Shore Pointe has opened on the northwestern part of Cupecoy Beach and did not bring any commercial development although they did build a seawall on what little bit of sand existed there. Porto Cupecoy has opened with many shops, but they are on the lagoon, not the beach. Blue Mall will have many shops and restaurants, someday, but they are not on the lagoon or the beach.
